Both Boys and Girls Walkersville Cross-Country Having Another Strong Year

Walkersville High Cross Country is fairly unknown to the students. Although they are very good at what they do, the team goes unnoticed.
Senior Parker Schading said, “We almost won our division, but missed by one point.” Showing just how high quality this team is. The team would run their hearts out, some have even earned records at the school. Senior Andrew Ashley said, “I think that we as a team have improved a lot; everyone is doing better than when they started.”
Junior Abby Engle said, “The girls got third in our division but we lost a lot of good runners this year from injuries or graduation.” and goes on to say, “last year we had a lot of seniors as well as a freshman who moved to Urbana this year. Also, we lost our second runner late in the season due to an injury.” Even with several set backs, their team still pulled through.
The students also enjoy playing this sport, Schading said, “I like running with my friends.” Engle said, “I like the social aspect of being on a team as well as the individuality aspect of running independently.” Senior Joey Moss shared, “I like to compete at something I am good at.”
Although there is not much time left in their season, they are still enjoying themselves. Schading said, “Either this Thursday or November 12th,” in response to when the boys season will end. Engle said, “if we get top seven at regionals, then November 12th, but if not then November 3rd,” in response to the same question.
On the topic of states, Schading said, “we have a better shot at going to states this year.”
So, if you want to cheer on your classmates to states, make sure to go to their meet next Thursday.
